The Media and Communications Workgroup of the LASPN hosted a half day
workshop for public information officers (and others) around effective messaging for
suicide prevention and tips for working with the news media on February 5, 2019 at
the California Endowment. Hand-outs from the workshop are now available.

TThe keynote presentation at the 8^th annual suicide prevention summit provided an overview of the latest best practice and national guidance for effective suicide prevention. Presented by Ellyson Stout, Director of the Suicide Prevention Resource Center, participants learned about the latest tools for community-based suicide prevention, strategies and principles that should be part of prevention efforts, as well as resources and guidance that exist for different settings and professionals.
