Create a workgroup to develop a comprehensive cross agency training and outreach plan to ensure people and organizations from all sectors are trained as gatekeepers utilizing models that aretrauma-informed and culturally responsive. Prioritize trainings for gatekeepers of populations at disproportionate risk for suicide in Los Angeles County.Plan for sustainability across systems by using train-the-trainer models or evidence-based online trainings.2. Create system/setting specific workgroups to facilitate implementation of best practice screening, assessment and safety planning practices. Encourage the creation of uniform policies and procedures to make screening, assessments, and decision-making routine. Clarify billing methods for services. These settings should include schools, corrections, juvenile justice, health care, mental health and substance use service delivery systems.3. Create population-specific workgroups to address comprehensive prevention, early intervention, treatment and postvention strategies, prioritizing but not limited to: men, youth, older adults, veterans, incarcerated individuals, homeless individuals, and individuals experiencing mental illness and substance use disorders.4. Implement suicide prevention awareness campaigns targeted for populations at disproportionate risk for suicide in Los Angeles County. 5. Host annual Suicide Prevention Summit to engage public and private organizations and providers across the county in suicide prevention.6. Integrate information about suicide prevention and resources into community outreach, coalitions and strategic plans addressing other health issues across Los Angeles County.7. Empower people, families and communities to reach out for help when mental health and substance use disorders emerge. Identify barriers that community members face in seeking services for behavioral health needs, and develop strategies to make services more accessible, convenient and culturally respectful.8.
